Wind River University Program

Wind River's University Program allows students and faculty at colleges and universities to use Wind River's state-of-the-art device software development tools for curricula and research projects.

Globally, more than 200 universities and 25,000 students participate in Wind River's University Program.

Colleges and universities may apply to receive software donations of Wind River technology. Donated licenses are for nonprofit educational use by full-time students and professors and may be used in the following:

  • Courses that teach embedded systems concepts
  • Graduate and undergraduate projects for various engineering and non-engineering courses
  • Academic research activities where research results are publicly available
  • Graduate student theses

Application Instructions

To apply for the Wind River University Program, complete the following documents and email the complete application package to university@windriver.com or fax it to 510-749-2454. Applications can only be submitted by a faculty member of an accredited university.

Application packages require the following completed documents:

  1. Teaching Proposal
  2. Addendum
  3. Agreement—must be signed by a faculty member
  4. EPCI (in countries where applicable*)

* EPCI screening is mandatory for all countries not included in the following list: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States (This does not include U.S. distributors or resellers who may be selling outside of the United States or selling to parties that may be located in the United States but who intend to export Wind River products to a nonexempt country.)
