Today the average device has a million lines of code. A couple years from now that number will rise to 2 million. As applications get bigger and microprocessors become faster and more complex, developers need access to the core processor and its peripherals. You must be able to see what's happening. How well is your processor communicating to its peripherals at the hardware level? How well is your code running on the system?
Wind River Probe debugs the debugging process itself. Engineers can see into the system every step of the way, from board bring-up to production and test. Businesses can standardize on a common, smart, and powerful debugging tool throughout the development process, freeing engineering bandwidth for product innovation.

Build Smarter Products
Wind River Probe provides the fastest high-speed USB connection between a host debugger and target microprocessor for PC-based development, supplying a high-performance emulation system that offers industry-leading download speeds, overall debug throughput, and unprecedented debug efficiency.
With Wind River Probe, developers can perform common source-level debug activities—such as watching memory and controlling large numbers of registers—in a matter of seconds. You can shorten edit/compile/download/debug cycles and make more turns, even with the most complex of applications.
High-Performance JTAG
Wind River's JTAG Accelerator technology enables Probe to incorporate maximum efficiency scheduling that uses 100 percent of the available JTAG bandwidth. Probe eliminates slow download times and slow response to run control (step in, step out, and single step) when developing with on-chip debugging microprocessors. With new hardware logic that optimizes JTAG communications, Probe dramatically improves development performance.
RoHS/WEEE Compliance
All products shipped by Wind River are in compliance with European Union RoHS and WEEE requirements.

Benefits
- Download rates up to 1.5MB per second with certain targets: Typically three to 10 times faster than other products and enables faster edit, compile, download, and debug cycles
- Modular design and target versatility: Enables developers to move from one target to another using the same debugging hardware
- On-chip debug target control: Start/stop target, set hardware/software breakpoints, take a target snapshot, reset the target, step one statement/instruction into function calls, and step over or out of a function; provides developers with access and control of their target at all stages of development
- Built-in hardware diagnostics: Comprehensive suite of RAM tests, scope loops, and CRC checks that reduces engineering development time by eliminating the need for developers to write custom test scripts for the purposes of verifying or validating memory
- Flash memory programming: Complete library of turnkey algorithms for programming flash devices enables developers to quickly move to software download, debug, and test, avoiding wasted cycles in writing customer flash algorithms
- Internal register configuration: Automated internal register configuration utility with bit-level detail and online help provides developers with access to key information regarding CPU and system-on-chip (SOC) registers without having to sift through pages of content in SOC hardware manuals
- Additional custom registers: Supports 32 groups for a total of 960 custom registers allowing end users to create their own groupings of registers or add additional registers not already supported
- Open API: Fully integrated with Wind River On-Chip Debugging API to allow fast and flexible integration of its powerful capabilities into your custom environment (e.g., automated test and production application) providing extensibility of support across the entire product development and manufacturing life cycle
