PEOPLE, CODE, AND EVOLUTION
Wind River® believes the world is changing too fast to lock our customers into proprietary technologies, so we've built expertly integrated embedded solutions based on open standards to optimize returns on open source investments.
We don't just embrace open standards—we're taking the lead in establishing them. Wind River is a founding member of the Linux Foundation's Yocto Project and continues to help maintain many Yocto Project components. We back our commitment to supporting open standards within our solutions portfolio with extensive contributions to open source and to the Yocto Project's evolution.
WORKING WITH THE YOCTO PROJECT COMMUNITY
As an open source collaborative project, the Yocto Project is led by technical maintainers, developers, and contributors around the world. Coordination among industry leaders and continued active technical participation are crucial to the Yocto Project's success.
As part of this community, Wind River supports different working groups to fulfill the project objectives, assigning technical leaders ranging from sub-system and BSP/Layer maintainers like Bruce Ashfield (linux-yocto kernel and tooling, meta-virtualization, meta-zynq) and Mark Hatle (user space, RPM, cross-prelink, SELinux, Pseudo) to OE-Core maintainers like Robert Yang (OE-Core 1.5, OE-Core 2.0).
Wind River is a leading contributor to open source and helps maintain many Yocto Project components, including:
- linux-yocto kernel and tooling
- User space and RPM
